Night markets return

Jersey City Night Markets are back and looking for volunteers. The Jersey City Night Market is an event focused on community and supporting local businesses. Volunteers will help set up, hang signs, help vendors load and set up activity stations. There will be different roles in the market, such as scanning tickets, helping with wristbands, or asking guests to score.

Volunteers will receive a VIP goodie bag which includes a t-shirt and two food vouchers as well as a two to three hour shift before or during the event.

Volunteers must be 18 or older and provide an email so you can receive more details. You can reserve your spot by getting a $10 deposit ticket that will be returned to you one week after the event you attended. You can get tickets on Eventbrite at https://bit.ly/3Mu2jHw. Eventbrite fees will not be refunded.

Information session on CPR for infants and children

The Hoboken Public Library is offering a free CPR information session specific to infants and children with Safe-T EMS training and safety on Sunday, May 22 at 11 a.m. The event will take place at the Grand St. branch of the Hoboken Public Library in the gym inside the Multi-Service Center at 124 Grand St., Hoboken. This is not a certification program.

New exhibition for children at LSC

“The Pigeon Comes to Jersey City” is the title of a new exhibit opening Saturday, May 21 at the Liberty Science Center, 222 Jersey City Blvd.

The exhibit celebrates the art and characters of children’s book author and illustrator Mo Willems. The exhibit features popular characters from Willems Elephant and Piggie, Knuffle Bunny and The Pigeon.

Kids can make Willems-inspired art and learn about the lives of characters from Willems’ books. The exhibition will be visible until September.

Learn to do business with Hudson County

Business owners looking to grow and grow can attend a free informational seminar hosted by the Hudson County Office of Business Opportunities on Wednesday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hudson Culinary Center County Community College at 161 Newkirk St., Jersey. City. There will be a team of Hudson County Departments who will provide visitors with everything they need to know about becoming a supplier for Hudson County.

Topics will include supplier qualification and certification, RFP/RFQ process and requirements, invoicing and receiving payments, and procurement opportunities.

Sip and paint for kids

Guaicora Studios and Art150 are hosting a Sip & Paint for kids on Sunday, May 22 from 3-4 p.m. at 150 Bay St., Jersey City. The Sip & Paint will provide guests with paint, pre-sketched cardboard, brushes and juice. The event is part of the Impact’s mid-show reception on the same day. Make a flowerpot and paint it

Jersey City artist Imani Starr will host this month’s JCWC Collaborative Craft Series on Wednesday, May 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. For the workshop, guests will work with acrylic paints and painter’s markers to paint pots for plants.

The workshop will begin with sketching a blueprint that will help bring your vision to life. When it’s ready, guests will plant seeds and add soil and water to start their growth. All materials will be provided at the event and the workshop will take place outside on the patio weather permitting. The event will take place at 201 Montgomery St., Jersey City, on the second floor.

Volunteer gardeners needed

The Pershing Field Garden Friends will be hosting a Spring Gardening Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21 at the Pershing Field Park Community Center, 835 Summit Ave., Jersey City.

Volunteers are needed to prepare the gardens for the 2022 season. Volunteers will work with experienced gardeners to prune, transplant, mulch and shape the gardens. Gloves and tools will be provided. Dress for yard work.

Volunteers must meet in front of the community center and workers must be 12 years and older

Jersey City Ward Tour returns

The Jersey City Neighborhood Tour returns June 5 at 11 a.m., starting at City Hall.

Up to 2,000 bikes are expected to take part in the 15-mile ride through the city’s 6 neighborhoods. The event is free and open to all, but donations are welcome. Sponsors are also accepting donations to fund Bike JC’s work throughout the year for a better bike in JC. $5 is the suggested donation, but not required.

Sunday of the feast of Santacruzan

The 44th Annual Santacruzan and Flores de Mayo Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 29, at St. Mary’s Parish, 254 2nd St., Jersey City, the Filipino festival follows the annual procession, marking the end of a month-long devotion to the Virgin Mary.

The Jersey City Record Riot returns Saturday, June 4 to the Grove Street PATH plaza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Over 40 tables with LPS, CDs and 45s will be set up for browsing and there will be vendors from all over the NYC subway. area, admission is free.
