CCTV: Three motocross bikes stolen from Poole garden shed

A HUNT is underway to recover three motocross bikes stolen from a garden shed by hooded thieves, leaving the owners “devastated”.

Private CCTV footage shows the moment thieves fled a property in Lincoln Road, Parkstone, with three Yamaha YZ125 motocross bikes belonging to a Poole landscaper and his two stepchildren.

Around 4 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, at least three hooded youths entered the garden of Matthew Carter and his girlfriend as they slept to steal the beloved bikes.

Matthew, 30, told the Echo: “I woke up at half past five, I don’t know why but I immediately checked my phone. When I did I got a notification from my Ring Video Doorbell saying someone was in the yard As soon as I checked my phone I quickly got up and walked downstairs and saw the shed open and the bikes gone.

“I have CCTV footage of them starting four houses away from us, jumping over three garden fences to get to ours. They just walked through them and targeted ours. That’s what frustrates me. »

While in the garden they entered a shed to pick up the bikes before exiting the property through a side door and into the road where they left.

Matthew believes the thieves knew the bikes would be in the shed and that he was being targeted, although he adds he has “no idea” how or why.

The images also suggest a silver Vauxhall Astra was linked to the theft after being driven from the scene alongside the stolen bikes.

Matthew, who has his own landscaping business, says the bikes have since been spotted in several locations around Poole.

Additionally, a motorist reported seeing a bicycle matching one of the three stolen being driven down the A31 near Ashley Heath towards Ringwood. The motorist sent dash cam footage to Matthew, who identified it as his stolen bike.

He added: “I just want my bikes back. I spent endless hours putting them together. We are all truly devastated. We worked so hard to get these bikes, buy them and take care of them. It’s just one of those things.

Dorset Police say they received a report at 6.50am on Thursday September 22 of three motocross bikes being stolen from Lincoln Road.

A spokesperson said: “The bikes are believed to have been stolen between approximately 3.10 a.m. and 4.10 a.m. earlier the same day. Officers are investigating the thefts and have conducted house-to-house visits in the area.

“The investigation is continuing. No arrests have been made.”
